SUBSTANCE: combine harvester comprises a retractive apparatus for collecting the harvested crops from the field, a threshing apparatus for separating the grains from the harvested crops, thereby creating a first part of the harvested crops containing primarily grain and a second part of the harvested crops containing primarily straw. The threshing apparatus is followed by a cleaning apparatus for separating the harvested crops and thereby separating the grain from non-grain components. The cleaning apparatus comprises a sifting apparatus configured to rotate around an axis of rotation and containing an at least partially sieve-like shell passing in a circumferential direction around the axis of rotation. Separation is provided by applying rotational motion and oscillatory motion of the sieve-like shell so that the oscillatory motion is directed transversely to the axis of rotation of the sieving apparatus. The axis of rotation of the sieving apparatus passes in the direction of gravity or is inclined relative to the direction of gravity. Oscillatory motion is provided by segmenting the sieve-like shell in the circumferential direction and rotating each segment of the contour of the sieve-like shell around the axis of rotation assigned to the corresponding segment of the contour.

EFFECT: efficiency of cleaning the threshed harvested crops is optimised.
