METHOD FOR WIRE FIXATION OF FRAGMENTS IN A ZYGOMATIC COMPLEX FRACTURE Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B17/78

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to maxillofacial surgery. A mucosal incision is performed along the maxillary mucogingival junction in the area from the third to the fifth tooth. The zygomatic complex fragments are repositioned using a Buyalsky spatula. The zygomatic complex fragments are fixed by inserting a wire percutaneously in the zygomatic region. The wire is therein inserted at the intersection of the line drawn along the subglacial edge of the orbit with the perpendicular extending along the lateral edge of the orbit. The wire is directed at the distal palatine tuberosity of the upper sixth tooth of the opposite side relative to the zygomatic complex fracture. The wire is passed through the body of the zygomatic bone, passing the maxillary sinus and the hard palate with an exit into the oral cavity up to two centimeters. This end of the wire is bent in the oral cavity in the form of a fish hook. The radius of the hook is therein two millimeters greater than the thickness of the hard palate mucosa. The wire is then pulled by the free end in the opposite direction until the sharp end of the wire hook stops, and cut off over the skin cover. The skin cover is displaced medially. The Buyalsky spatula is removed. On the tenth day, the wire is removed through the oral cavity by gripping the hook with the working part of the needle holder. If needed, the maxillary teeth or the maxillary alveolar process are used for support.

EFFECT: method allows for an improvement in the results of treatment in a zygomatic complex fracture.
