METHOD FOR ELIMINATION OF DEFECTS OF POSTERIOR AND LATERAL WALLS OF MAXILLARY SINUS IN PATIENTS WITH TRAUMATIC INJURIES OF ZYGOMATICO-MAXILLARY COMPLEX Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC A61B17/24 A61F2/28 A61B17/58 A61B17/64 A61B17/94

Abstract RU 2835322 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to maxillofacial surgery and otorhinolaryngology. After anaesthesia and hydropreparation, a mucous membrane of a transitional fold is incised from a lateral incisor to a first molar of the upper jaw. Periosteum is detached and the zygomatico-alveolar crest is exposed. Approach is created and the lateral and posterior walls of the maxillary sinus are inspected. Degree of displacement of the bone fragments is visually assessed, and the size and shape of the defect is determined. Sinus is then approached, and the contents of the sinus are inspected and sanitized under the control of an endoscope. Bone fragments and deformed sinus walls are repositioned. Bones of the zygomatico-maxillary complex and the lower wall of the orbit are repositioned. Bones are fixed with titanium miniplates and miniscrews. Titanium perforated mesh plate is used to fix the zygomatico-alveolar crest and replace the defect of the posterior, posterolateral and lateral walls of the maxillary sinus. Titanium perforated plate consists of proximal and distal parts. Before installation of the plate, it is simulated by four bends according to the volume and configuration of the defect zone.

EFFECT: method allows to restore anatomical walls of maxillary sinus during surgical reconstruction in patients with traumatic injuries of bones of zygomatico-orbital-maxillary complex and lower wall of orbit with possibility of delimitation of sinus cavity from infratemporal fossa, pterygoid palatine fossa, cheek fat body and soft tissues of cheek and masticatory space, to prevent development of secondary deformations.
