FIELD: metals processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technical field of processing platinum group metals. Platinum group metals are recovered from the spent catalyst supported by cordierite, alumina, zeolite and silicon oxide using iron as a collector. Preliminarily, the composition of the slag is selected for the extraction of platinum group metals from the said catalyst. Depending on the type of spent catalyst carrier, at least one slag-forming component is selected from the group containing calcium oxide, borax, sodium carbonate, stainless steel slag, fly and bottom ash from waste incineration, cullet, calcium fluoride, quartz, while the mass ratio of spent catalyst and slag-forming component is from 1:0.4 to 1:1.5. The target slag phase composition is modeled and calculated using thermodynamic software, and the slag composition is verified and optimized for high efficiency capture of platinum group metals. After selecting the composition of the slag, the collector, the spent catalyst and the slag-forming component are mixed in the selected proportions and placed in a melting furnace, which is preheated for 10-30 minutes, and then the temperature for melting is increased, after the reaction is completed, the melt is left in a calm state so that it completely captures platinum group metal and settled to the bottom, the slag is separated from the metal to obtain a ferroalloy enriched in platinum group metals and a slag melt.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the efficiency of separation of slag and iron, reduce the content of platinum group metals in the slag, and ensure efficient recovery of platinum group metals.
