FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the recovery of platinum group metals (PGM) and is a method for concentrating platinum group metals in a spent aluminum-based catalyst using a pyrometallurgical method. The spent catalyst is mixed with a collector, which is iron powder, in the amount of 5-40 wt. % by weight of the spent catalyst, while using the СаО-Al2O3-Fe2O3-В2О3slag system, and the mass fractions of CaO, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and В2О3 in the system are 35-50%, 40-60%, 5-10%, 10% respectively, and the sum of CaO, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and В2О390%. After that, the resulting mixture is smelted at a temperature of 1500-1800°С and a partial oxygen pressure of 10-3 atm to obtain Fe-MPG alloy after separation of the slag melt from iron.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to effectively separate the slag phase and the ferroalloy at a high recovery factor of platinum group metals.
