FIELD: paper industry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of paper manufacturing. Polymers containing hydrophobic vinylamine are used in the manufacture of paper as additives improving characteristics, for increasing paper softness with little or no adverse effect on the strength of paper in a dry state. Polymers containing hydrophobic vinylamine are obtained by inclusion of hydrophobic functional groups in primary amine fragments of polymers containing vinylamine by reactions with reactive hydrophobic compounds. Polymers containing hydrophobically modified vinylamine can be additionally used as base polymers for the reaction of polymerization with vinyl monomer carried out by the reaction of polymerization initiated by free radicals.

EFFECT: improvement of softness, reduction in the friction coefficient of paper products with maintenance or improvement of the strength of paper products in a dry state are provided.
