FIELD: space technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space technology, in particular to electric rocket propulsion systems with an electric rocket engine (ERE) with an electrodeless plasma source and an electrode accelerator stage. The proposed wave ion engine with a closed gas-discharge chamber contains: a closed-ring gas-discharge chamber; at least one guide tube; at least one antenna; at least one sleeve (by the number of antennas); an HF generator; a magnetic system; a magnetic system power supply; at least one ion-optical system (by the number of guide tubes); an ion-optical system power supply; a radial gas drive; a working fluid storage and supply system; an on-board power conversion module; a control module. When implementing the claimed invention, the elimination of the occurrence of parasitic discharges that destroy the structural elements of the engine and small spacecraft is ensured; reduction of losses when power is added to the plasma on the electromagnetic antenna-plasma electromagnetic communication line; elimination of the influence of electromagnetic radiation on the structural elements of the propulsion system and the structural elements of the spacecraft.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of rocket engines.
