FIELD: traffic control systems.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to traffic control. System for controlling a traffic light comprises a vehicle detection apparatus, an interface, and a traffic light control module. The traffic light control module comprises an adaptive and manual traffic light control program and is configured to receive data from the vehicle detection apparatus or the interface, convert said data into commands for the traffic light, and transmit said commands to the traffic light. The system additionally comprises a module for automatically changing the traffic light control program, configured to identify a violation in the operation of the traffic light equipment and transmit a command for a change in the traffic light control program to the traffic light control module when a violation in the operation of the traffic light is identified, and the traffic light control module additionally comprises a standard traffic light control program and is configured to activate said program if a command for a change in the traffic light control program is received with an active adaptive traffic light control program.

EFFECT: possibility of reducing the risk of loss of operability of the traffic light in the system for controlling a traffic light.
