METHOD FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF RHEGMATOGENOUS RETINAL DETACHMENT BY EPISCLERAL RADIAL FILLING Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61F9/00 A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2772046 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely ophthalmology. For the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment by episcleral filling with radial indentation of the sclera, a conjunctival incision is formed 3-4 mm from the peripheral rim in the quadrant where the retinal detachment is detected. Two rectus muscles of the eye bordering the rupture zone are isolated and taken for sutures-holders. The projection of retinal detachment on the sclera is localized using indirect binocular ophthalmoscopy. An auxiliary silicone seal is placed on the sclera under the rectus muscles in the detachment zone, parallel to the equator, the length of which ensures that it stands outside the rectus muscles, which is 5 mm on each side. After that, a radial seal is placed under the auxiliary seal and perpendicular to it, installing it in the projection of the retinal detachment. Next, drainage of the subretinal fluid in the detachment zone is performed. Finally, the radial seal is installed in the projection zone of the retinal detachment on the sclera by moving it along the auxiliary seal, and after receiving ophthalmoscopically confirmation of the achieved compatibility between the position of the retinal detachment and the indentation shaft. Suture fixation of the radial seal to the sclera is performed, and the seam is first applied, covering the seal, and tightened only after removing the auxiliary seal, which is freely removed from under the rectus muscles.

EFFECT: method guarantees the accuracy of the interposition of the retinal detachment and the indentation shaft, which forms a radial seal, ensures a reliable fit of the sensorineural retina to the pigment epithelium, which improves visual functions.
