FIELD: pharmacology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to variants of a method for producing indole-3-carbinol, which has pronounced antitumor and other useful properties. One of the variants of the method involves the reduction of indole-3-carbaldehyde with sodium borohydride in a methyl alcohol medium, subsequent addition of water and isolation of indole-3-carbinol. At the same time, when indole-3-carbinol is isolated, potash is additionally added to the reaction mixture, the mixture is kept until two layers appear, the organic layer is separated, evaporated, the resulting solid phase is filtered and dried without heating. Then the isolated indole-3-carbinol is purified, for which the dry mass of indole-3-carbinol is dissolved in methyl-tret-butyl ether, the solution is filtered from inorganic compounds, evaporated in vacuum, dried until the removal of methyl-tret-butyl ether, the resulting indole-3-carbinol is recrystallized in ethanol, filtered and dried. Moreover, before the reduction of indole-3-carbaldehyde, it is pre-purified, in which it is poured with dichloromethane and boiled, the resulting suspension is cooled and filtered, the filtered product is poured with an alcohol-ether mixture and boiled again, after which the suspension is cooled and filtered.

EFFECT: increase in the chemical purity and physico-chemical stability of indole-3-carbinol, as well as simplification of the implementation of the method.
