FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to traumatology and orthopedics, vertebrology, and can be used to determine the height of the body of the L5 vertebra in isolated comminuted fractures. Multispiral computed tomography of the L 4-5 and S1 vertebrae is performed. The anteroposterior size in mm of the lower end plate of the L4 vertebra is measured in the CT scans. The proper height of the body of the damaged L5 vertebra is then determined after restoring according to the formula: A = 2.04 + 0.76*B, wherein A is the proper height of the body of the L5 vertebra in mm, and B is the anteroposterior size of the lower end plate of the L4 vertebra in mm.
EFFECT: method ensures the accuracy of the result and provides a possibility of individualising the determination of the proper height of the body of the L5 vertebra in the zone of the transitional lumbosacral spine for each patient by measuring the size of the lower end plate of the L4 vertebra.
