FIELD: veterinary medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to veterinary medicine, and can be used to assess the functional state of the liver of cattle. The animal undergoes clinical examination, and a biochemical study of blood serum is conducted. The concentration of medium-mass molecules (MMM) at the sample irradiation wavelength of 254 nm and the concentration of ketone bodies are determined in the blood serum. If the concentration of MMM is above 0.185 AU in combination with a concentration of ketone bodies above or equal to 1.033 mmol/l, a pathology of the functional state of the liver is identified. A variant of the invention: the concentration of MMM at the sample irradiation wavelength of 254 nm is determined in the blood serum and the concentration of ketone bodies is determined in milk. If the concentration of MMM is above 0.185 AU in combination with a concentration of ketone bodies in milk above or equal to 1.72 mmol/l, a pathology of the functional state of the liver is identified.

EFFECT: methods provide a possibility of improving the quality of assessment of the functional state of the liver of cattle due to the more accurate and quick diagnostics of early disorders of the functional state of the liver of cattle based on a combination of certain biochemical markers and the use of computer technologies.
