FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: arterial blood collection system comprises an arterial blood collecting element forming a collection chamber; and an arterial blood module connected removably with part of the arterial blood collecting element. The arterial blood module comprises a body with a first end and a second end; a needle extending from the first end; a cover secured removably above the needle; a mixing chamber adjacent to the second end. A protective cap is engaged with part of the body and configured to move from the first position of the cap, wherein part of the needle is uncovered, to the second position of the cap, wherein the needle is covered by part of the protective cap. Disclosed are an arterial blood module and an alternative variant of the arterial blood collection system.
