SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to the field of cardiac surgery. Median sternotomy is performed. Cannulation of the aorta and hollow veins is performed, artificial blood circulation is connected. Cardioplegia is conducted. A longitudinal incision of the pulmonary trunk is made, blood clots are removed on the drained heart from the main pulmonary artery, the left pulmonary artery, and the lobar and middle branches thereof. The right pulmonary artery is isolated from the surrounding tissues, an incision is made in the longitudinal direction from the aorta towards the superior vena cava using a 1.5 cm long scalpel, and the blood clots are totally removed from the right pulmonary artery.

EFFECT: visualisation of the distal segment of the right branch and the distal bed of the pulmonary artery, allowing the surgeon to perform thrombectomy of a greater volume, thereby improving the quality of life of patients, reducing the mortality and postoperative complications.
