FIELD: electronic equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electro-vacuum microwave devices of the O-type, in particular, to powerful traveling-wave spiral tubes (TWT) and to miniature low-voltage TWT with a high specific thermal load on the spiral. A powerful traveling wave spiral tube contains a shielding housing, which is part of a vacuum shell, a magnetic system, a spiral-type decelerating system fixed along the axis of the housing using dielectric supports made of a material with high thermal conductivity. The spiral has a rectangular cross-section and is fixed in the housing by means of two dielectric supports, no more than λ/2 wide, where λ is the wavelength, made in the form of a hollow half-cylinder with rectangular plates at the ends, the distance between which is L≥2t, where t is the thickness of the spiral conductor. Dielectric supports can be made of CVD diamond.

EFFECT: increase in the output power of spiral TWT in a wide band of operating frequencies while providing increased communication resistance and effective heat removal from the decelerating system.
