SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. The invention is a method for accelerating the selection of vegetatively propagating rootstocks of apple trees, consists in applying at the stage of selection of hybrids an assessment of the rootstock plant for the ability to vegetatively reproduce based on the morphological sign of bark wrinkling in the root neck area of the rootstock, carried out even before digging out the plants, followed by budding of the selected seedling for the purpose of reproduction to obtain the number of plants necessary for primary variety studies of new hybrids of apple rootstocks. The selection of seedlings capable of vegetative reproduction and their budding for the purpose of technical reproduction immediately in the current growing season makes it possible to reduce the selection process of creating new apple rootstocks by 1 year, which provides significant cost savings and a reduction in the cost of newly created breeding achievements by at least 12%.

EFFECT: use of an accelerated method for apple rootstock selection improves the quality of selection, since the analysis is carried out in more comfortable weather conditions for research.
