FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: artificial heart comprises a body with two, left and right, mutually isolated centrifugal rotary pumps acting as the left and right ventricles, an engine installed between the centrifugal rotary pumps on a common shaft therewith, and two circulating fluid circuits for the left and right centrifugal rotary pumps, with separate inputs and outputs. The centrifugal rotary pumps constitute disk pumps, have an equal amount of disks configured to ensure equal flow rate of the circulating fluid in the right and left circuits, and are installed with the same inter-disk distances. The diameter of the disks of the left centrifugal rotary pump is larger than the diameter of the disks of the right centrifugal rotary pump and is related to the diameter of the disks of the right centrifugal rotary pump by the ratio and the pressures in the right and left circulating fluid circuits correlate as Pright = σ·Pleft, wherein dright is the diameter of the disks of the right centrifugal rotary pump, dleft is the diameter of the disks of the left centrifugal rotary pump, Pright is the pressure in the right circulating fluid circuit, Pleft is the pressure in the left circulating fluid circuit, σ is a magnitude determined by the medical and biological requirements.
EFFECT: ensured stability of intra-pump haemodynamics and minimised blood trauma and thrombosis.
