SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of construction, in particular to the strengthening of reinforced concrete columns of rectangular or square section. The method for strengthening the column includes cleaning the column from damaged concrete, rounding its corners, fixing the concrete of the column with a primer, layer-by-layer concreting with shotcrete, treating the surface of the concreted column with grinders, second priming the surface, and layer-by-layer gluing of a composite material based on carbon fabric. After the concrete of the column fixed with a primer dries, a galvanized metal mesh is installed so that the mesh touches the rounded corners of the column, and bulges on the edges, creating a rounded shape, while the shotcrete is applied to the mesh in layers, up to covering the mesh elements, thus creating a round or oval section.

EFFECT: increasing the strength of the column.
