SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a heating unit for use in heating a cigarette and to an aerosol generating apparatus containing such unit. In particular, the invention relates to a heating unit containing a ferromagnetic material for generating heat by the action of an external magnetic field, and to an aerosol generating apparatus applying an alternating magnetic field to the heating unit. Heating unit for heating a cigarette placed in the aerosol generating apparatus, containing a heating element oriented in the longitudinal direction of the cigarette and containing a ferromagnetic material for generating heat under the impact of the external magnetic field and a temperature sensor measuring the temperature of the heating element. The heating unit is located in the inner end part of the cigarette placement cavity provided in the aerosol generating apparatus.

EFFECT: elimination of the problem of non-uniform aerosol generation and improved quality of the aerosol generated by the cigarette.
