FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the tobacco industry, in particular to systems imitating the tobacco smoking process. Aerosol-generating device comprises a housing including a receiving part into which an aerosol-generating article comprising a current collector is introduced. Induction coil is located around the receiving part. Controller is configured to control power supplied to induction coil. Controller is further configured to detect introduction of the aerosol-generating article by controlling the first power supplied to the induction coil, and controlling the heating of the current collector by the magnetic field generated by the inductance coil, by controlling the second power, the value of which is different from the value of the first power supplied to the inductance coil. Method of controlling an aerosol-generating device comprises detecting introduction of an aerosol-generating article by controlling a first power supplied to an inductance coil. Upon detecting the introduction of the aerosol-generating article, the second power is controlled, the value of which differs from the value of the first power supplied to the induction coil. Current collector heated by magnetic field generated by induction coil is controlled. Disclosed is a computer-readable data medium containing a program recorded thereon for executing a method of controlling the aerosol generating device on a computer.

EFFECT: reduced power consumption when recognizing insertion of the aerosol generating device.
