SUBSTANCE: area of application: invention relates to clocks, in particular, to watches containing at least one clock mechanism and at least one chronograph mechanism including at least one switching mechanism controlled by control means available to the wearer. Substance: clock column switching mechanism (100) including a mobile element with columns (2) protruding above the base surface (1), separated by gaps (5) forming grooves (10) along the profile (P), said grooves in certain positions of said mobile element providing the possibility of inserting a rod into the gap (5) in the transverse direction (T), practically perpendicular to said profile (P) and parallel to said base surface (1), and in other positions of the mobile element providing the possibility of stopping the rod on the transverse surface (81, 201, 202) of the column (2); wherein at least one column (2) comprises an intermediate transverse locking surface (81) forming a support surface for the rod, providing the possibility of partial insertion of the rod to the depth of one said groove (10), and located in the transverse direction (T) between the geometric envelopes of the two end transverse surfaces (201, 202) defining said column (2) in the transverse direction.
EFFECT: development of a switching mechanism with compact thickness; in particular, development of a mobile element with brake surfaces both outside and inside the grooves of the mobile element with columns, in particular, a column wheel.
