FIELD: linear accelerators.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to linear accelerators. The frequency control system for a tunable linear accelerator comprises an RF source configured to generate an RF signal; RF frequency control circuit connected to the RF source and configured to adjust the frequency of the RF signal; an accelerating structure configured to accelerate the particle beam in response to the RF signal; and a control logic configured to: receive a plurality of settings over time for the RF source; maintaining a settings history including the latest few settings from said set of settings for the RF source; adjusting the current RF signal in response to multiple settings; and adjusting the current RF setpoint of the frequency control loop in response to a combination of at least two of the most recent settings at various points in time in history, said set of settings being energy level settings for the RF source.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of regulation of the parameters of the linear accelerator.
