FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for hardening tool processing from die steels refers to metallurgy, in particular to methods of thermomechanical processing of die steels for hot deformation. The method includes austenitization of the steel tool after any initial heat treatment at a temperature of Ac3+250-350°C and cooling to 400-450°C while maintaining the austenitic structure, exposure for 15-20 minutes, then 3-6-fold plastic deformation is carried out the working area of the tool with a degree of 1-2% per cycle to increase the density of dislocations in austenite and cooled to room temperature, resulting in partial decomposition of austenite. Subsequent rapid heating at a rate of 50-200°C/s to a deformation temperature of 750°C contributes to additional hardening of the steel due to partial α→γ-transformation during heating and deformation in the two-phase (α+γ)-region, after which the hot state is stabilized work hardening during subsequent 3-6-fold plastic deformation of the working area of the tool.
EFFECT: increasing the service life of tools used for hot pressing dies of hard-to-form alloys at temperatures of 750°C by increasing the yield strength of die steel and stabilizing hot hardening.
