FIELD: medicine; psychiatry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to psychiatry; it can be used for the treatment of schizophrenia. A method includes the intramuscular injection to a patient of the first loading dose from 200 mg to 300 mg of paliperidone in the form of paliperidone palmitate on the first day of treatment. Starting from 29th day ± 7 days from the injection of the first loading dose, the patient is intramuscularly injected with the first monthly supporting dose in the range from 50 mg to 150 mg of paliperidone in the form of paliperidone palmitate. Each dose of paliperidone palmitate is included in a composition of an aqueous suspension.
EFFECT: use of the invention allows for faster release of a drug and smaller fluctuations of its concentration during the first two months.
