SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. To determine the indications for surgical treatment of acquired ptosis of the upper eyelid caused by fatty degeneration of the superior tarsal muscle of the upper eyelid, ultrasound biomicroscopy of the conjunctiva-superior tarsal muscle complex is performed. When the thickness of the "conjunctiva - superior tarsal muscle" complex is 0.315 mm or more, surgical treatment is performed, including resection of the superior tarsal muscle, followed by refixation of the levator aponeurosis to the upper edge of the tarsal plate with interrupted sutures.
EFFECT: method allows to determine the indications for surgical treatment of acquired ptosis of the upper eyelid caused by fatty degeneration of the upper tarsal muscle of the upper eyelid.
