SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of testing the explosion hazard of cables intended for operation in electrical installations in explosive environments. The group of inventions includes a device and a method for testing the cable, consisting in the fact that the striker is dropped onto the cable, a sample of the cable is installed in the explosive chamber and secured with a fastening device, connected to a device for protective disconnection from the mains, and at the far end fixed in half of the cable connector so that they protrude inside the volume of the second explosive chamber, the supply of electrical voltage from the mains is turned on and on the panel of the control device, the presence of potential on the conductive veins of the far end of the cable is checked, the concentration of the explosive test mixture inside the explosive chamber is checked, the striker is released, which falls along the guide device to contact with the movable rod, which takes the impact on itself and transmits it to the cable.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the explosion hazard of the cable.
