FIELD: metal processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for laser surface treatment of steel products. The method includes the exposure of the surface of steel products to laser action, while laser action is performed by means of a technological laser complex equipped with an ytterbium pulsed fiber laser with a power density of 108-109 W/cm2, pulse duration from 50 to 200 ns, with a repetition frequency of 20 kHz when laser spots are applied over 97%.
EFFECT: implementation of the hardening process of steel products without the need for additional processing and additional equipment, with the possibility of adjusting the depth of hardening.
