FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for laser cleaning of welded surfaces from undesirable layers and contaminants in preparation for laser welding of a steel spunbonded pipe billet with a thickness of 8 to 45 mm. Defocused collimated laser beam is scanned over the cleaned surface of the moving steel molded tube billet on either side of the midline of the future weld. Scan with a variable repetition rate of pulses of laser radiation with a varying pulse duration. In this case, the average maximum radiation power is changed and at the same time a continuous quality control of the purification is performed. At the required quality of cleaning, the value of the radiation power is fixed and does not change it until the surface cleaning is completed.
EFFECT: method provides a high-quality cleaning of the surface in one pass of the laser beam with the achievement of the required cleaning quality and without changing the characteristics of the surface layer of the article material.
