SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and method for removing the graphite sealing ring of the position sensor of a staged nuclear reactor and can be used when repairing the reactor at a nuclear power plant. An apparatus consisting of an upper tier handle, a lower tier handle, a tray, a blade of the knife of the lower tier handle, a clamping plate, and a blade of the knife of the upper tier handle is used in order to remove the graphite sealing ring of the position sensor of a staged nuclear reactor. The upper tier handle and the lower tier handle are therein fastened together, the tray is connected with the lower end of the lower tier handle, and the clamping plate, the blade of the knife of the lower tier handle, and the lower tier handle are fastened together. The blade of the knife of the upper tier handle, the clamping plate, and the upper tier handle are also fastened together.

EFFECT: possibility of increasing the safety of repairs at nuclear power plants and possibility of executing repairs faster.
