FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the metallurgy of noble metals and can be used in the technology of processing an iron collector containing platinum metals. The method includes pulping the collector in the form of a concentrate in water, introducing a fluorinating agent into the pulp, and then treating the obtained reaction mixture with an acid. As a fluorinating agent to remove silicon, hydrofluoric acid or ammonium fluoride acid is used in an amount equal to 130-180% of the stoichiometric. To process the reaction mixture, sulfuric or hydrochloric acid is used until the pH value is less than 1.0 pH. After that, the pulp is heated, then the solution containing iron salts is separated by filtration from the precipitate containing platinum metals.
EFFECT: method allows expanding the range of known methods for processing iron concentrates (collectors) with selective separation of platinum metals into a precipitate enriched by 14-15 times.
