FIELD: hydrometallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydrometallurgy of precious metals and can be used in the processing of concentrates containing precious metals, in particular ruthenium in the form of potassium ruthenate, potassium perruthenate and ruthenium hydroxide. The method for separating ruthenium from concentrates containing precious metals includes pulping them in water, treating the pulp with hydrochloric acid, heating the reaction mixture, treating with a neutralizing agent until the pH value in the pulp reaches 0.0 to 2.5 units and distilling off ruthenium tetroxide by treating the pulp with an oxidizing agent containing chlorate or an alkali metal bromate. As a neutralizing agent, hydroxides of alkali metals or calcium are used, as well as their aqueous solutions.
EFFECT: invention provides a high degree of distillation of ruthenium tetroxides from the reaction medium.
