FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to means for differentiating span gas coming out of an object under study from perturbating gas in the surrounding of the object under study in schniffer search of a leak. Gas is sucked from the surrounding of object under study (21) in the area of its outer surface, using a probe-analyzer. The specified probe-analyzer has suction hole (14) connected via gas to sensor (18) designed for the determination of partial pressure of span gas in the sucked gas flow. A flow rate of the sucked gas flow is periodically measured. Complete pressure of sucked gas is established on sensor (18), which is at least 80% of complete pressure of gas in atmosphere (23) surrounding object under study (21). Oscillations of complete pressure of sucked gas on sensor (18), exceeding 10%, are prevented. Partial pressure of span gas contained in the sucked gas flow is measured by means of sensor (18). It is concluded that object under study (21) has a leak, if measured partial pressure of span gas has a variable component, an average amplitude of which is above a threshold value, and which follows the change in the sucked gas flow.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of distinguishing span gas coming out of a leak in an object under study and perturbating gas in the surrounding of the object under study in schniffer search of a leak.
