FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the residual moisture of solid (with a melting point above 30°C) and ointment-like substances and can be used as a method for basic and fine organic synthesis control. The determination of residual moisture is carried out by combined thermogravimetric analysis with IR-Fourier spectroscopy, where the identification of compounds passing into the vapor phase is carried out by analyzing the IR spectrum. The spectra are taken continuously throughout the experiment and synchronized in time with the graph of the change in the substance sample weight.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to significantly reduce the cost of the substance for analysis, does not involve preliminary studies and time-consuming stages of sample preparation.
