FIELD: pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical-pharmaceutical industry and can be used for determination of humidity of air-dry herbal raw materials of Silybum marianum fruits. Moisture is determined using an infrared thermogravimetric method. For this purpose, raw material samples are weighed and ground in any way to particles with size of 2–3 mm, and then sieved through sieves with diameter of holes of 3 mm and 1 mm. Then, the fraction passed through the sieve with holes diameter of 3 mm, but not passed through the sieve with holes diameter of 1 mm is used. Sample 10.0±1.0 g is distributed over the surface of the bottom of the metal cuvette with a uniform layer and dried to constant weight at temperature of 105 °C, moisture content of medicinal vegetal raw material is determined in automatic mode.
EFFECT: invention provides a fast and accurate method of determining moisture content for medicinal raw materials containing thermolabile biologically active substances, as well as reducing power consumption.
