FIELD: meteorology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of meteorology and can be used to determine the height of the lower cloud boundary. Essence: using a photodetector located on the earth’s surface and oriented to the zenith, three images with one point of interest are obtained. Moreover, the indicated point of interest is located on the basis of a uniformly moving cloud and it can be uniquely identified in the images. The linear and angular dimensions of the apparent displacement of the point of interest, the zenith angles of the lines of sight of the point of interest and the zenith angle of the apparent displacement of the point of interest are determined from the obtained images. According to certain parameters, the height of the lower cloud boundary is calculated.
EFFECT: simplification of determining the height of the lower cloud boundary.
