FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment and can be used in meteorology for determining physical parameters of atmosphere. Method comprises additionally performing navigation measurements of orbit of spacecraft, surveying boundary point as seen from spacecraft on background of earth's surface cloud cover when in frame of shadow points on selected edge point cloud cover and location of edge point cloud is a line passing through spacecraft parallel to direction of sun. Method includes determining coordinates of earth's surface, lying on line of sight of selected edge point cloud cover, and coordinates of earth's surface, on which falls shadow of selected edge point cloud. By navigation measurements determining coordinates of location of spacecraft at time picture was taken, and height of cloud is determined by height of selected edge point cloud.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency.
