FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention is a method for selection of potential probiotics effective against Staphylococcus aureus, which includes the use of modified replica method and delayed antagonism method, namely seeding of material obtained by sterile probe-tampons from nasal passages of healthy donors on several different nutritional media, for example on blood agar, BHI agar, TS agar, korinebaktagar, MRS agar, LM17 agar, with cultivation in different conditions (temperature, aerobic, microaerophilic, and anaerobic conditions), followed by transfer of grown colonies, using sterile filtered paper, to fresh Petri dishes with the same media filled with a layer of semiliquid (0.7%) agar, containing a culture of indicator Staphylococcus aureus and supporting the growth of strains – potential probiotics. Alternatively, when using the delayed antagonism method, Petri dishes with the specified media are seeded with material from donors, covered with semi-liquid agar, incubated in corresponding conditions, after which are overloaded with a layer of semiliquid agar, containing an indicator culture of Staphylococcus aureus, with subsequent repeated incubation and selection of strains – potential probiotics by their capability of suppression of growth of Staphylococcus aureus around their colonies.

EFFECT: this method allows for accelerated selection of strains – potential probiotics from microorganisms present in normal human microbiota.
