SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of thermal deformation processing of composite materials based on aluminum to obtain blanks and semi-finished products and can be used in high-tech areas of technology for the manufacture of parts with improved performance properties. A method for processing an aluminum matrix composite includes processing by severe plastic deformation by all-round forging in three stages with a sequential change in the direction of deformation along three coordinate axes of the workpiece with a stepwise change in the deformation temperature and subsequent cooling of the workpiece to room temperature, in which each of the three stages is carried out by heating the workpiece from room temperature. temperature to a temperature of 0.7 Tliquidus of the matrix at an arbitrary rate, applying pressure to the workpiece equal to 1-3% of the tensile strength of the matrix material, then heating from 0.7 Tliquidus of the matrix to a temperature of 0.88 Tliquidus of the matrix with an increase in the heating rate from 3°C/min to 6°C/min, then holding at a temperature of 0.88 Tliquidus of the matrix for 1 min, followed by cooling to room temperature at an arbitrary rate, while the deformation is carried out until the degree of deformation ε is not less than 54% at each stage.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving the mechanical properties of the aluminum matrix material, in particular at increasing the compressive strength.
