FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly making semifinished products with highly uniform structure, normalized change of structure and properties of materials. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of successively stage-by-stage deforming of blank by compressing it along height in cavity of apparatus for deformation working; providing plastic yielding of material in direction non-coinciding with that of deforming effort; at each stage placing blank in cavity of apparatus; deforming it and then extracting out of said cavity and replacing for next step; at least beginning from second stage deforming blank while providing plastic yielding of material at side of its one lateral face; extracting blank out of cavity after releasing at least its three lateral faces. Method is realized with use of apparatus including two working parts. One of said parts is joined with cross piece of press. In first variant of apparatus its second part has cavity restricted at least by four faces, at least three of said faces are parallel relative to direction of deforming effort. Working part with cavity is builtup one. In second variant of invention working parts are in the form of plates with protrusions forming cavity restricted at least by five faces; three of said five faces are parallel to direction of deforming effort.
