METHOD FOR DIAGNOSTICS OF BLASTOCYSTIS HOMINIS INVASION BY BIOPSY MATERIALS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC G01N1/28 G01N1/30 G01N33/48

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pathological anatomy, gastroenterology, parasitology, and medical microbiology; it can be used for diagnostics of blastocystosis. Biopsy materials of mucous membrane of the body and the antrum of the stomach, the duodenum, and the colon are fixed in 10% neutral buffered solution of formalin for 3 hours. Next, biopsy materials are washed with tap water, poured in paraffin, and cutouts with a thickness of 5 mcm are made, cutouts are colored by May-Grunwald solution in combination with azur II. Blastocystosis is diagnosed, when vacuolar, granular, amoeboid and cystic forms of Blastocystis hominis are detected in the form of cells of a round or oval shape with azurophilic homogenous cytoplasm, with a diameter of no more than 50 mcm, on the surface of integumentary and pit epithelium of the stomach, in the lumen of gastric dimples, edged epithelial cells, intestinal glands of the duodenum, as well as on the surface epithelium of intestinal glands of the mucous membrane of the colon.

EFFECT: method provides for a possibility of morphological diagnostics of blastocystosis by biopsy materials, which will allow for verification of the most common life forms of blastocysts and determination of their role in the development of inflammatory changes in the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract due to the study of biopsy materials of the mucous membrane of different departments of the gastrointestinal tract by a histological method with coloring of cutouts by May-Grunwald method.
