SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for calibrating the external parameters of optical video cameras. Method for calibrating external parameters of video cameras is characterised by obtaining images of the environment from the video cameras in the course of movement of the vehicle; selecting linear objects of the environment in the image; forming an image with the linear objects and selecting rectilinear segments; determining the position of the vanishing point for the selected rectilinear segments; comparing the position of the vanishing point is compared with the position of the reference point; based on the resulting deviation, determining the values of rotation angles of the camera with account for the focal lengths known from the internal calibration of the camera; and forming a corrected image with account for the determined rotation angles of the camera.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of calibrating external parameters of video cameras.
