FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology for the production of goethite of a phase α-FeOOH and its use. Goethite has i) aspect ratio AR of less than 1.5; ii) value CIELAB L* from 58 to 59; iii) value CIELAB b* from 43 to 47; iv) value Δb* of less than 0.6, which is the difference between corresponding values of b* determined before and after grinding by a method, which is goethite processing carried out using an agate ball with a diameter of 10 mm in a vibrating ball mill at a frequency of 2000 min-1 for 2 min.
EFFECT: obtained goethite has an increased value of a yellow index b* and stable saturated color.
