SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of laminated floors. A composition for sealing and coating edges of fiberboards is obtained from a mixture of silane compounds with a polymer dispersion. Silane compounds include a compound of the general formula SiX₄, where X is an alkoxy group, a compound of the general formula R²₃SiX, where X is H, R² is C₁-C₅ alkyl group, and a compound of the general formula R²SiX₃, where X is an alkoxy group, R² is C₁-C₁₀ alkyl group or C₆-C₁₀ aryl group. Polymers in the polymer dispersion are selected from polyurethane, epoxy resins, melamine resins, and polyacrylate. A method for the production of a composition, its use, and a fiberboard are also proposed.

EFFECT: reduction in swelling of edges of fiberboards.
