FIELD: railway engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the prevention of slipping wheels in winter conditions. A method for increasing the traction force of a locomotive in winter operating conditions is that preheated dry sand is fed into the contact zone of the wheel with the rail. In this case, the sand is heated using preheated air to the required temperature. The heated air is fed through the locomotive sand pan air distributor into the sand pan nozzle, where cold dry quartz sand is also fed from the locomotive sand pan. The temperature of the heated air is regulated depending on the ambient temperature, and at positive temperatures the air heater is automatically switched off.
EFFECT: increase in the grip of the wheel with the rail and increase in the traction force of the locomotive in winter conditions.
