FIELD: lasers.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of creating diamond lasers. Proposed is a method for manufacturing a laser element from a diamond crystal with NV-colour centres, consisting in cutting, from an artificially synthesised type Ib diamond crystal created by the high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) method in a Fe-Ni-C or Fe-Co-C metal-carbon system without nitrogen getters at temperatures below 1,450°C with a ratio of peak absorption coefficients in the 1,130 cm-1 and 1,344 cm-1 IR bands, an element in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped with a certain initial concentration of single isolated nitrogen atoms in the substitution position; then subjecting the element to electron irradiation at a certain dose; then annealing until the NV- colour centres reach the content of 2.5 to 5.0% of the content of single isolated nitrogen atoms in the substitution position (C defects); as well as a laser element produced by the method.
EFFECT: possibility of creating an active laser element with the possibility of reconfigurable generation of irradiation in the 710 to 730 nm range when exciting with a 532 nm wavelength.
