FIELD: handling filamentary materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of manufacturing rigging from steel ropes during emergency, rescue, and ship-hoisting operations; in particular, in the manual creation of an eye splice on cords. Method for creating an eye splice on a steel rope consists in creating an eye splice using cable clamps; wherein a strong splitting bar is installed between the first and the second cable clamps in the gap between the standing end and the working end of the rope, with a thickness of approx. 1/3 diameter of the rope, a width of approximately two diameters of the rope but not more than the width of the cable clamp, and a length of about 3/4 distance between the clamps; wherein the splitting bar changes the geometric shape of contact of the standing end and the working end of the rope from parallel to divergent after the clamps are compressed, so as to be able to prevent the rope from slipping out of the cable clamp under load.

EFFECT: effective creation of an eye splice during emergency, rescue, and ship-hoisting operations.
