FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to structural elements of high-voltage suspension insulators. The electrically insulating glass part of the disc-shaped insulator has a head and a plate made in the form of surfaces of revolution. The outer surface of the dish, facing the head, is convex, and the inner surface is concave, and at least one of the said surfaces is adapted to accommodate an additional element of insulating material on it. On the outer convex surface of the plate around the head, an annular protrusion is made, having at least an end surface that intersects the geometric axis of rotation of the outer surface of the head, and an outer side surface of rotation, the geometric axis of rotation of which is parallel or coincides with the geometric axis of rotation of the surface of the plate and directed to radial direction away from the specified geometry axis. The additional element is located at least on the outer convex surface of the plate and is connected to the outer side surface of the annular protrusion. The thickness of the additional element in the area of its connection with the side surface of the protrusion does not exceed the height of the protrusion with the possibility of preventing accumulation of liquid on the end surface of the protrusion until the additional element contacts the side surface of the protrusion, and the ratio of the maximum diameter of the plate to the minimum diameter of the side surface of the annular protrusion is in the range from 2 up to 3.5.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability of visual detection of the failure of a glass piece with an additional external element while maintaining the integrity of the additional element and preventing the broken glass piece from falling off, falling of broken parts onto adjacent products or onto the ground.
