FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical equipment, namely to electric insulating structures, for example, in the form of linear suspension insulators of overhead transmission lines. Electrical insulating structure with hydrophobic coating is made in the form of an insulator having an insulating part of tempered glass or electro-technical porcelain, consisting of a head and a plate with ribs or without ribs on the lower surface, a metal cap and a metal rod, an inner surface of the metal cap and an outer surface of the head of the insulating part, as well as the metal rod surface and the insulating part head inner surface are interconnected by the hardened cement-sand binder, wherein the hydrophobic coating is based on the organosilicon compound of hot curing and is uniformly applied on the surface of the insulation part, as well as on the surface of the cement-sand ligament. Thickness of hydrophobic coating is 80–800 mcm, wherein coating is made in two layers.
EFFECT: invention ensures production of strong thickness on the insulator, which is equally effective to be applied on any insulators irrespective of their shape and configuration, as well as increase of electric discharge characteristics of insulators.
