FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: electrical apparatus in form of a poppet insulator is comprised of an insulating part and attaching fittings with a cap and a rod. The insulating part includes an insulating piece (IP) made with a central hole and a layer of a hydrophobic material (HM) adhered to the IP. The cap is placed on the outside of the IP, and the rod is placed in the central hole of the IP on the inside thereof. The HM layer applied to the surface of the IP has a variable thickness and is configured and moulded with formation of elements of the geometric shape of the insulating part. A method for manufacturing a poppet insulator, wherein elements of the geometric shape of the insulating part are configured and moulded, the insulator is assembled and the HM layer is applied.
EFFECT: invention ensures a reduction in the weight of the electrical insulating part with an increase in manufacturability thereof.
