SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding tools. An input bitstream containing metadata and video data is obtained. Video data is decoded. The fact whether the metadata contains at least one flag signalling at least one image size component is determined for at least one image from the video data. If it is determined that the metadata contains said at least one flag, signalling is sent to the display apparatus in order to display said at least one image from the video data in accordance with said at least one flag. Said at least one flag indicates whether said at least one image should be displayed with the image size in accordance with the value of said component, wherein said value is preset and indicated via the metadata.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video encoding.
